In what was another good year for Gypsy/Jazz releases, Romane teamed up for a third time with Stochelo Rosenberg; this time producing CD and bonus DVD package, entitled: Gypsy Guitar Masters. Meanwhile, the tour de force pairing that was Angelo Debarre and Ludovic Bieir released another dynamite CD, entitled: Entre Ciel Et Terre.

Bireli Lagrene remained in the limelight with two CD appearances this year. One with the French violinist, Didier Lockwood; and the other, with the ‘Gypsy Project’ backing the French jazz singer; Sara Lazarus.

Meanwhile on the band front; the Hot Club had received many requests for a CD of our music over the previous years, and in 2006 we finally got around to recording our first CD with home recording equipment at bass player John Coulson’s house. We titled the CD: ‘Ambiance‘, harking back to the very first recording on cassette, a full 10 years earlier in 1996. We tried to incorporate our varying styles, including gypsy music, Bal Musette waltzes, Latin jazz, and of course; pure Gypsy Swing, It was extremely well received at our gigs, and we went on to sell hundreds of copies.
